Will a marina rear end bolt into a mk2 farina

Post04 Jun 2018 00:41

Ive got a good rear end from and early 1300 marina van, think its got a 4.1:1 diff. Will it bolt straight into my mk2 and is overall width the same or close enough? Looks like its the floating axle type like an atlas rear, not the flimsy rear they put in mk1 escorts. Sorry for asking but cars in storage and im working on refurbing replacement running gear

Don't know about the width of a Marina axle, BUT if it's ok, then i'm convinced you'll have to cut off the Marina spring fixings etc and weld on the A40 ones. It aint not just gonna fit straight in Paul. Also, the prop to diff connection will undoubtedly be different. And the length might be a bit out.

you are right dave, no it doesnt fit its the same as a moggy rear thats why moggy owners fitted them, if i was going to fit a different axle it would be from a ford 100e as their are quite a few different ratios and the same width

Ah....100Es the same width :D That's the way to go if it's diff ratios wanted. They must be a bit scarce though ? Then again, there's plenty of ratios for the BMC axle :- 5.3, 4.5, 4.2, 3.9 & 3.7. With a couple of VERY similar ones up the high end, AND a VERY RARE 3.5 which was a Special Tuning option.
