Replacement windscreens

Post26 Jun 2018 11:06

Just for information

When fitting our new screen recently, we found the curvature not correct, as reported previously, the corners did not curl in enough to meet the screen pillars. We have good contacts with certain people and several screens were sent to us from various stocks and they were all found to be the same incorrect shape.

Pilkingtons, who make most of the glass these days, closed their factory in the UK a while back and moved it to Finland. Unfortunately most of the really experienced people did not go, (I wonder why).

An old original screen we had has been sent to the new factory in Finland to check and modify their moulds or jigs.

Check any new screens carefully for shape as stressing a bad screen to fit in the body is not a good thing.
