Mixing Hammerite to be exact. I want to mix black and red to make Maroon. Anyone tried. Their website says don't mix it. That said, it's not clear - does it mean don't mix it with other stuff? (Fair enough), or don't mix it with itself?

Obviously they don't do Maroon then, as it would have been on their website. I'm surprised actually. To answer your question, I can't see a problem mixing two Hammerites. Unless it's something to do with the colouring pigments....or whatever it is that's used to obtain the colour. ( I'd go for the smooth version, I think it looks much better ).

When mixing colours, always add the darker pigment to the lighter one - you'll use gallons unnecessarily if you try lightening black paint! And try to keep a note of roughly what proportions went into the mix just in case you need to match the colour at a future date.
