Spring meet April 2025

Many thanks to Teresa and Mark Johnson for once again hosting the Wessex Group's gathering at Penton Mewsey community hall. Eight A40s delivered their owners safely to darkest Hampshire for the afternoon's picnic from places as far apart as Weston-super-Mare, Seaford, Maidenhead and Banbury as well as more local members. The weather was threatening to break after a week of glorious sunny, warm weather, so we were treated to a rather chilly wind and sunny intervals, plus one short shower just before we departed but that didn't stop us having our usual natter, not entirely A40-related.
For once the A34 was flowing well if rather busy with homeward-bound weekenders but our old Mk1 rattled along at a brisk if noisy 55mph and even the Oxford ringroad section kept moving. To be honest though, both Bar and I felt the journey tiring and we were glad to nurse some strong G&Ts once safely home.
