Front Springs and Ride Height

Hi All, I bought a car which has had a lot of work done on it including lowering both ends, disc brakes etc. The ride height was too low for the road, car is on 165/70/13 tyres and sump was just over 3 inches from road. I bought Motobuild fast road springs I believe they list them as 360lb. The ones I took out were also motobuild and still had the label on " MG Midget 600lbs". The free length of the Midget springs is 6 inches the Fast Road are 6.5 inches and an old used standard is 7.5 inches. Though I haven't put it back together I am worried that it still might be a bit low. I have read about large washers used to correct corner weight in racing applications. Are these large washers simply coil Od coil Id and laid in the lower spring pan? Is it ok to put say a 1/4" washer both sides to adjust ride height?
Many Thanks Jimmy

Both of my A40's feature in the current FN 183 (& the excellent calendar "Ed" Martyn produced)
They are both fitted with Midget Discs/Springs. To achieve a decent ride height for competition,
I've swapped the standard aluminium spacer from the 'off-side' to the 'near-side' and machined a
thicker (15mm) spacer as a replacement for the 'off-side'
I am sure the springs are standard free length of 7.5" - even with a sump guard fitted the clearance
is definitely more than 3"!
Jeff.

Thanks I am having some 5mm spacers laser cut and will add as required to give 4.5 inches ground clearance , I believe the ratio is 2:1 ie 5 mm sapcer results in 10mm increase in ride height.. The manifold which looks to be a maniflow is flat on the bottom ..
Many thanks Jimmy

I have a Maniflow LCB which is probably flat on the bottom, it's too low. I haven't lowered mine but do use 165/65x13s and it catches on a lot of sleeping Policemen. I'm hoping to take it off and either cut the pipes and join it back shorter or I will put my old 3 into 1 that I made years ago from a mini one cut and rotated with plenty on clearance.

I too have a flat manifold. I will see if I can cut and shut it, not sure how close it is currently to floor. It would be better side by side but again not sure if there is room. Many thanks all.
