I was born in the late fifties and brought up in a more innocent time. In Bristol when I was growing up we had 2 TV Channels BBC (no 1 or 2 just BBC) and our local ITV, HTV (Herlech TeleVision). On that we had a presenter called Alan Taylor who together with a glove puppet Ticker) Presented a short daily program called Tinker and Taylor, where viewers could send in (by snail mail or post as called it) their Jokes and Alan Taylor would read them out. I don't know if Alan realised what he was reading out when he read this one but I hope he knew and didn't just read stuff out without reading it first.
So with out further faffing around
How do you make a Door laugh?
Tickle his knob!
Still makes me laugh 50 odd years later and it obviously made an impression as I still remember it after all these years and still pass it on to others, who still find it funny especially as this was a man older than our parents telling kids just before tea time so they could go and tell their parents!
