Post by Dave Shergold » 15 Jul 2024 12:40

Hi all,
A pleasant day at the Midland Railway Centre, for the annual AGM. "Clara" stayed at home,as i thought 156 miles could seriously damage my health, Seven A40.s attended,A pleasure to see Keith,Bar & Gab as always, Derek, and to meet Martyn our new editor.and other familiar faces.
Ed, Warmly welcomed me as a General Committee Member at the meet
Take care all.

Yes, the faithful few enjoyed meeting up once again and it was particularly nice to clap eyes on Simon Evans (not in his A40 but in charge of an 0-6-0 tank engine which he'd painted in the very handsome Midland Railway's red).

Once editor Martyn had tracked down the key to the Tin Church (our AGM venue) we quickly made ourselves at home, and the meeting passed quickly and with no dramas. Next year's venue is yet to be decided but it's the turn of the southern members to sample the delights of the AGM!

Gab whirred along amid the sometimes heavy M1 traffic but it was on the M40, just three miles from our home, that some numpty rammed the back of the car in front of him, thus creating a long tailback which added over half-an-hour and extended our driving time to three hours.

Today Bar and I are quite jaded but I shall add some photos tomorrow.
Well, this evening actually, as it's heaving down with rain and I can't water the greenhouse! I shall add captions tomorrow - now it's time for my bedtime cocoa . . .

and just one from the previous day's gathering, at the Crich Tramway Museum, organised as a picnic by our Izzie. More photos from here later, by other folk, I hope!

Super pictures once again as always Keith, im so glad that you all had a super time. Im just sorry that I could not be there in person. Sadly it was 200 miles away, a bit far from me sadly. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
