A Word (or three) from your Erstwhile Archivist.

Post by exlkrs » 26 Sep 2024 13:40

Hello all, Chris here. As a few of you know, the last three years have not been the greatest times in the Ennis household up in the Frozen North. Annette's health has been poor following botched surgery ('Surgical Error' the NHS term it), and my deteriorating heath too. Assured the archive is still safely stored, and enquiries, chiefly from Alan Oakes and Roy Baines have been assisted with. Work on my restoration project has not moved in this time. Part of that has been my (slow) realisation that my days of major bodywork are over. My thumbs no longer allow me to work like a 20 year old. I'm better suited to minor fettling. Speaking of which, we do have a Minor Traveller we use. As we see the light at the end of the tunnel, I've taken the plunge and agreed a purchase on a running and driving 1968 A40, which we hopefully will conclude next week. All along I did want an on the road motor, so this, which isn't the best but definitely isn't the worst, will see us mobile in what was my first motor as a Bodyshop apprentice 50 odd years ago. So, with renewed enthusiasm, off we go I hope! My best wishes to you all.

Really sorry to hear about Annette's health difficulties and I'm sure we all on here wish her a satisfactory return to better health.

Had to smile at your realisation that you keep growing older! Will you be keeping the half-timbered Moggie or will the A40 become your daily driver?

Whatever, the very of luck to you both.

Hello Keith,
I trust you and Bar are well too. I'll be keeping the Traveller as a high days and holidays (weather permitting) living in the garage, and using the A40 everyday. Needs some urgent work but nothing that will keep it off the road for any length of time. So all being well, it will be serviceable soon.

So glad to see you back on the forum Chris. You will love your new A40. An A40 and a moggy. I great pair, I say so having had both! My best wishes to both you and Annettee. Thank you always Chris for your help and advice.
