The George Cross awarded to the NHS
What an honour - the highest civilian award that can be made for facing overwhelming odds and an ongoing danger to health for the NHS workers. The issue isn't whether one believes the virus actually exists but to acknowledge the superb, almost impossible teamwork that brought scores of different disciplines together so amazingly quickly so that we could all be offered the innoculation and, for those affected, that they could be treated with compassion and gentle, dignified care. A well-deserved award by anyone's standards.

Totally agree. Now to top it off give them a fair pay rise.

A rare award, instigated in 1940 by George VI. Only the 3rd time it's been awarded to a recipient other than an individual. Malta, PSNI & now the NHS.
Most seriously deserved
According to an Antiques Roadshow expert, it is the SAME as a Victoria Cross. VC in the face of the enemy, GC not....... Now that says something for the bravery required to be awarded the GC ! ! !
