According to this Schedule of Repair Charges, I can have my gearbox rebuilt at my local Austin dealer for just £5 and 12 shillings! Now to find a time machine...

There was also a driver's handbook for a Mk1 in the same shop - I already have one in better condition so I didn't buy it, but now I'm wondering if it would be useful to anyone. It was in reasonable condition and was only about £2 so I'm happy to go back to the shop for it and cover the cost of both it and the postage to anyone who would like it. :)

A kind offer, Maya. Let's hope the manual finds a good home.
