Garage roof

Post by austina40sam » 21 Aug 2023 15:06

Hi all. The garage ceiling here at home is now In a poor shape. It is a felt flat roof. On the inside it currently has insulation and then pasterboard over that. The plasterboard is now in poor shape due to leaks in the past.

I'm going to be getting the felt roof checked as that is getting on now.

My question to you all is what do I do about the inside of the roof. Do I keep the insulation and pastardboard idea. Have insulation and plywood?

Or do i do away with both and just have normal roof rafters like I know many people do.

What does everyone else do with regards to there garages?

As you can imagine I don't want the garage to be horrible and damp. That won't help Ruby now.

I had exactly the same thing some years ago. Bit the bullet, found a REPUTABLE roofer and had a rubber sheeting glued on and all joints heat welded. Very expensive but worth it.

I had the whole thing (felt roof etc) replaced with an insulated paneled roof -now warm, dry and bright. (Picture on FB Sam as I have no idea how to get a picture here - sure I did it once)
