MK2 Petrol Pipe
Hi fellow members. My name is Steve Johnson and I am restoring a MK2 saloon which my dad bought new in 1965. It has been off the road for 40 years. I have nearly completed the body shell and am currently installing a new copper petrol pipe from the pump in the boot to the engine bay. I have followed the existing fold over clips to the engine bay but the question is how does the pipe get to the other side to supply the SU carb? I have a feeling it carries on to the front and crosses over under the radiator but I don't have any close up photos of the engine bay and the BMC workshop manual doesn't help either. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Re: MK2 Petrol Pipe
Hi Steve. If I remember correctly, it crosses over on the bulkhead.
If in doubt....kick the Ruskies OUT
Re: MK2 Petrol Pipe
On my '67 Mk2 the fuel line recently fell apart, but there is definitely one section which ran along the driver's (RH) side front chassis leg, crosses the front cross member (under the radiator) to the passenger side of the engine bay and is then connected by a flexible pipe to the carb.
Oo! I found a photo (not of my car) - click on it to re-orientate it. Here you can see the fuel line running forward on the RH chassis leg (LH side of photo), then turning across the rear of the front cross member, and finally connecting to a flexi up to the carb. I think on my car there was an extra bend and section of solid pipe running vertically up into the corner of the engine bay here, connecting to a shorter flexi than the one in the photo, but otherwise pretty much the same.

Yes, on my 1964 Mk2 to petrol pipe runs right down the driver side to the front cross member, then across the car under and to the front of the radiator and up into the engine compartment on the passenger side a few inches. Then it's connected to the carb inlet with a piece of flexible petrol pipe about 15in long
