Monty's car for sale :- Sutherland Green 948cc 1961 Mk1 Deluxe Countryman

Post by Dave the rave » 20 Mar 2023 17:22

Full Restoration Project.
£750
The odometer shows 41116 which cannot be verified but seems credible.
For some years this car has been stored outside beneath a waterproof cover but thanks to a free-draining pebble driveway there is little damp apparent within the vehicle. The interior paintwork and brightwork are in very good condition.
Overall the bodywork seems in remarkable condition considering its long storage and has no accident damage. Both the lower boot hatch and the bonnet are rusty. I understand the sills have been replaced in readiness for new floor pans.
An initial one year free membership to the A40 Farina Club will be included in the sale. Our club are now the largest specialist suppliers of spare parts for the A40 Farina including bodywork repair panels and many other items that have been manufactured by the club and technical advice is also available.
Mark 1 Countryman models of the A40 Farina are rare as are those painted in Sutherland Green and we believe that the restoration of this car will be a worthwhile project.
The car is stored near Buckingham and will require a trailer to remove

The door frames are remarkably free of rust; what you see here - even on the bottom inner frame is slight surface rusting. Monty had attended to a lot of such rusting before cutting the floor panels out, maintaining correctly that new panels would give the shell greater structural integrity.

Just a reminder that this ad closes in a couple of days' time and then it'll be going on eBay.

Forgive me higgerence but is that a firm bid or our asking price?

I was over there this morning helping to identify its keys from a tin-full of odds & sods, and Mrs Monty's now searching for the relevant documents.

She is very grateful to the Club for helping her out.

Keith. If you are bidding on ebay, the bid price ie £1900.00 GBP in this case is the lowest to start that auction off. So to outbid one needs to bid about £2.00 or more and hope that no others outbids you

At that amount it'll be a lot more than £2 to outbid. Probably £50...... ( Next bid amount is dependent on the current bid, goes up as the amount bid goes up, { in stages } ).
