Hi Keith, It was Castle hillclimb near Lostwithiel in Cornwall.
Didn't do well I'm afraid as the gearing made it very difficult to pull away on the very steep start.
After getting into second gear that's where it stayed until completing the course!
4.5-1 crown wheel and pinion going in next week to make it (hopefully) get nearer the rest of the class.
Wiscombe Park on September 3rd/4th and on the 10th also.
Wish me luck.

You don't need luck - you're in an A40. Wot you need is low cunning and a heavy right foot!

Well since my last outing in the car I have lowered it another inch at the front and changed the diff.ratio,
it's now a 4.55-1 and made a fantastic difference.
2 day event (Sprint) at Portreath in Cornwall and came home with a first in class on Saturday and repeated again on the Sunday.

Thanks Keith, it has been a lot of use and thanks also to Derek Minter for his speedy spare's supply!

Well done, looks like you could now lower the back at least the same, this should also help a lot. Stiffer front anti roll bar would help, possibly stronger front springs, but only one thing at a time, then you know what works and what doesn’t, also how the differences feel.

Thanks Scotty, New lowering blocks for the rear arrived yesterday so that is the next job. I'm loving this car and I am surprised how well it handles even now.
Wiscombe this weekend and next Saturday, watch this space!

As you are using lowering blocks at the back, you may need tramp bars if you start to get axle wind up with that low diff.

Thanks for the advice, lowering blocks from Peter May are now fitted so we will see how it behaves at Wiscombe.
