I snapped a half shaft first time out ! Luckily on the last special tests of the rally and I rolled over the finishing into the Main Control

Presume they were the old original shafts Stuart.

Yes I have just removed them and the near side has snapped clean off about 25mm from the end of the splines. Do you think that new standard shafts, as the club has in stock, would be any more durable ?

I would change all the standard items these days. Tough ones are just so much better, fit and forget.
