Barney Sharrett's book is correct in stating Blue trim was an interior colour choice for a Black Mk1, but it was not Horizon Blue.

The Blue trim available was a Mid Blue and came with White Piping, whereas Horizon Blue is the familar, Turquoise Greenish Blue and had no contrast piping.

The picture below showing seats on a patio (Taken from A40 Facebook) shows the Mid Blue Seats with White piping. The Other is of a Horizon Blue interior & Seats.

Most of the Black A40's you see have a Red interior so I guess Blue was not as popular? They were not offered on a MK2's. Who know's if your car is a "Try Out" model or they had deleted the Blue interior so fitted Horizon Blue instead! Either way its likley to be a "One of One" of "One of Just a Few".
