Goodwood 2025

Post by scotty » 31 Aug 2025 09:42

I have just seen the latest entry lists and there will be five A40s in the St Mary's Trophy races at the Goodwood Revival which happens over the weekend of 13-14th September. Should be some interesting racing and some great TV.

We have just been advised they have decided to allow two 1293 Minis into our era race. These cars normally run in the alternate years event up to '66, in the past it was decided by Goodwood that MkII A40s were able to run in the up to 1959 era, as long as they fitted lever shocks at the rear and only MkI jags. Minis, Cortinas, Imps, MkII Jags were kept to the up to '66 era but due to some sort of pressure and we all have an idea what, these two Minis have been allowed in. Chandock Karun/Nick Swift will win the St Mary's Trophy with Darren Turner/Mark Burnett second as they are about 5 seconds a lap quicker from past qualifying times than any of our era grid.

Well the A40s have been holding their own this weekend. I must say I've always been a bit amused at all the 1959 Mk2s that have been allowed to race... it's not just the dampers but the wheelbase is longer as well, which I guess makes for a more stable car . Still, it is great to see them being represented and doing well - it can only be a good thing that raises the public image of our cars and hopefully produces a solid future with a younger generation of owners.
