New battery
Re: New battery
Hi Peter, Welcome back to the A40 club! I bought an 038 budget battery from Eurocarparts. It was labelled as 'Drivemaster' 45AH and came with a 3 year warranty. The label peeled off and doesn't look too modern.

Lucas 048 'Classic' battery fitted with plenty of clearance for an alternator, £49.49 with 3 year warranty from eBay

I guess it all boils down to what use the car is given - daily drivers owned by younger members who need to get to work on time should be driven (excuse the pun) by value, cost and expected use whereas older members have more leisure time to spend on fettling their cars. Personal opinion...

Not many miles I must admit during times of idleness and during the Covid regs it is started on a regular basis driven down the lane to keep oil circulating and for me to have a play with its bits.
Wifes diesel used by us both for local work and is a good work horse. Any longer journeys we use my Skoda Octavia (4 years old and only 17,500 miles on the clock) as you can tell we don't do much long distance travel nowadays. Luckily all three cars in my name are all tax free.

Re: New battery
Warranty and eBay in the sentence Sorry theres no such thing Just Ebays 30 day MBG if it fails Who would you claim the so called Warranty with If it was accepted under warranty try finding a courier to use to dispatch as a private person as 99% of couriers ban batteries.
Re: New battery
SOOOOO WRONG!!!!!!!!!!
I wrote... " £49.99 with three year warranty from eBay"
The battery was from eBay, the warranty is from the Manufacturer.
This not a 'Mickey Mouse' battery being sold by a dodgy dealer at a car boot sale!
The warranty is THREE YEARS from the Manufacturer... LUCAS
The seller is a dealer geared up for internet selling of car batteries and has over SEVENTY SIX THOUSAND positive feedback.
I have five vehicles all using premium batteries and never had one go faulty or on other vehicles previously owned, should this happen it would be returned using the sellers courier who are well aware of what they are transporting. I won't be walking to the Post Office and plonking it on their counter!!!
