Sad day today for Exlkrs - funeral of one of the few remaining ex Lookers Northwich crew. RIP Malcolm. I learned stuff from you that I didn't forget, and am using today on one of the Farinas models you taught me on!

A belated condolence to you Exlkrs. I work for Lookers Leasing in Harrogate. As you know, Lookers had a long history with the Austin marque and was one of the first distributors.

It would be good to hear of your experiences especially around the time you worked on A40's. If you have any pictures that would be brilliant.

As Keith said, let Malcolm's wisdom be enjoyed and shared by you too.

Very evocative Graham, the ad is great. My father served his time at Hardman Street in the blitz. He only ever worked for Lookers, from apprentice to Company Director. I worked in the bodyshop at the Northwich distributors. Great company, great memories, skills i've kept for life.
Here's where it began top left- the scene is somewhat different today - It's retirement flats now!!

Here are a few more pictures that I had. I understand one is of the Preston dealer which had been requisitioned for the war effort. You can see the anti ram bollards and guard outside.

The other is of First Avenue. I don't know if this was the main workshop? Lastly, I understand they used to print a magazine and I think this is a page out of the reference file.

Yes that's Preston. Was a Peugeot dealer later, run by John Ray, a contemporary of Dads, he still lives not far from me
