I am not sure if there is something wrong with me but really like seeing these pictures of cars that have been parked up and then discovered years later. The back stories I am sure would be interesting!

me too..i love 'rust in peace',in Practical Classics magazine some time ago i'm sure there was a pic of 2 A40's parked up in a Garden Centre

The thing that gets me is someone knows they are there and they just don't care, all the way from humble A35s and A40s right up to the most exotic and rare motors.

It always fascinates me too to see cars that have been left to decay or that have been abandoned or forgotten. As sad as it is to see a car crumble apart beyond where it can easily be saved, it always makes me wonder what the story behind it is. Each would've once been someone's pride and joy, yet each was eventually allowed to rust away.

My own A40 had apparently been sat forgotten in a garage for six years before I bought it, and I can't help but think about what might've happened if she hadn't been pulled out of there.

My word, that bottom picture certainly has a tale to tell. Fancy explaining to one's insurance agent that, while the front of the car is in pristine condition, er . . .

I think the bottom one might be Ipswich. The back of the locoshed backed onto a street like that, and they once had a "runaway" diesel loco that ended up in the street, just like that freight van has.

Wow, when scrapyards were an event to visit! There was one near Collumpton that had cars going back to pre-war and all that was left of them were a row of chrome headlights staring sadly from the overgrowth. The large house there was rammed to the rafters with every spare imaginable and a lot of them new and unused. Happy days!
