1098 Engine

Thanks for your reply, I am interested in the engine with ancillaries as originally advertised. I believe you are in the Crewe area which isn’t too far from me, 40 mins or so. If you could put my name on it until you get back from your hols it would be much appreciated.
You say it’s still in the car and it runs ok, is it in need of anything or does it have any problems, any information would be welcome. The engine in my car is the original with 49800 miles approx. It leaks in the usual places, timing cover and back end and I’ve detected a ‘rumble’ and suspect big ends or mains. It is only slight but by the time it’s removed stripped etc, I would rather put another unit in as I use it every day and don’t want it off the road too long.

Hi Alan,
That's no problem, but it would be March before we could progress, if you're happy with that.
I bought the car from an A40 club member but not covered any significant mileage in it. We compete
in historic rallies with my other A40 but that one will require some remedial welding soon, so I plan
to swap the 1275 engine, hence the reason for parting with the 1098. As stated, it runs 60psi oil pressure
and doesn't "smoke" - I suspect it has been rebuilt at some stage in the past.
