New Garage Find - Suffolk

Hate the term, it's so misused......but covers pics from fields, woods, farms, garages, lock-ups, barns, driveways etc....

Great job. Super panel gaps. I'd be well pleased with those!!

Have also sourced 2 NOS MK1 rear Qtr panels - not easy to find!

Be advised that connecting the top seam to the lower seam beneath the side windows upper panel can test the patience of a saint. The joint comprises interlocking lips and I believe that the two panels were assembled before being added to the shell as a single unit.

Thanks Keith - will bear that in mind. Car rear floor is now being worked on - Chassis legs need a fair bit of new fabrication as the originals were rather open to the elements so have rotted out or metal has blown. New Spring hangers have also been fabricated as unfortunately sourcing an A35 pair didn't resolve matters.

You will find a picture of the fully welded joint on ‘UCE 13, Scotty’s race car’ on the first page. This join was originally spot welded and if the paint cracks water enters the gutter like panel join which runs down the back and rot the bottom corner of the rear window, bottom corner of boot opening and down to the rear spring hangers. Hard work but worth the effort.

Good work Scotty. I had the privilege of watching the welder at work closing the joint. Seems this wasn't done during manufacture but UCE 13's shell needed to be as stiff as possible to withstand the stresses of the race circuit.
