General Sherman in Sequoia National Park (largest living thing on earth!) - had the pleasure of going there and standing by it - it sure makes you realize what a small insignificant part of nature you are!

We have one of these things growing at the bottom of our garden, fortunately just over the fence in next door. Nowhere near the height of these giants but still the tallest tree around, although it is dying we have been advised by a tree man. They die from the top down, ours has lost about 15 to 20 feet off the top over the last 20 or so years, so no point but a flat top which looks a bit odd.
